At Baker Tilly Staples Rodway, we offer you the valuable experience you need to pave your way in the accounting world, whilst learning from and being mentored by our highly skilled experts. Our business is growing, and we have an excellent opportunity for a Bookkeeper in our Outsourcing team that sits within the wider Business Advisory Services team. As part of this team, you would be responsible for assisting clients with their accounts administration. We think this would be an excellent part-time opportunity for a student in their first or second year at university studying accounting, with the option to increase their hours during semester breaks. 

Baker Tilly Staples Rodway is an Accounting, Tax, Audit, Corporate, and Business Advisory firm. We are a part of the Baker Tilly International network, which was voted the 'network of the year' at the International Accounting Forum & Awards 2023. Here in New Zealand, we have offices in Auckland, Waikato, Tauranga, Taranaki, Hawke's Bay, Wellington, and Christchurch. This role is based in our Auckland CBD office.

Key duties

  • Fast and accurate data entry
  • Data management including capture, upload and checking
  • Accounts administration, including reconciliations
  • Efficient use of Xero, Excel and Smart Payroll
  • General administration duties for the team

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has/is:

  • Currently completing a qualification in accounting or a relevant field
  • Future plans to become a Chartered Accountant and follow either the CA ANZ or CPA pathway
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Positive attitude, with a high level of initiative
  • Desire to learn
  • Ability to work with various computer applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • The right to work in New Zealand

 A bit about Ashleigh, who is recruiting for this role:

Being the youngest sibling, I naturally have an outgoing and social personality. My mahi saw me begin my career within the Business Advisory Services team at Baker Tilly Staples Rodway and have since moved to Human Resources. Outside whānau and mahi, I love to travel, always searching for new adventures.
