Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
This company invested a lot on trainings for graduates as follow: 1) first week of job, graduates familiarise with the office environment, socialise with coworkers, watch training videos and read graduate manuals. National Orientation week- we learn various skills incl. soft skills, time management, budgeting and technical skills. Engage with BTSR graduates from other regions and build connections. 2) informal trainings given by senior team members while working. Training quality depends on which seniors you get out of luck. Must actively ask questions or find initiatives to learn because otherwise seniors are too busy to attend to you. 2) before busy season starts- Formal training - A week of intensive Caseware and excel trainings with Partners. Gained deep knowledge to use caseware and document workpapers in excel. Partners roleplayed as a senior auditor and client to give hand on experience before doing the proper audit. Also have teamwork activities 3) Bite-sized trainings every week on Teams covering various different topics like changes in documentation, AI or if there is any mini issue arising that requires a training. 4) National audit training. Will be done in November this year.

Training quite often about certain topics eg tax, fixed assets. Entire week of training when you first start to learn how to do workpapers

Having a smaller team is good as you can learn from more advanced people such as managers or seniors. You are welcome and encouraged to ask questions to anyone, which helps with the learning experience. There was not really any formal training. It was more talk through out the system works then try and actual job. This would work well for some people but also would be nice to have some written procedures on some jobs and how they use the systems.

Depends when you start in the year. Beginning of year is more programmed and structured compared to mid year.

We were provided a week of formal training when first starting off as a graduate, after which an assigned "buddy" and your manager and readily available to help you with any informal questions you have while working on jobs. There are semi-regular official training sessions held on various topics throughout the year, and annual national training with other graduates around the country.

The training could be a bit better as we only got two days, however I found that I learnt more from actually doing the work than during the training.

I received training sessions for the first two days, regarding the company systems and software we use. It is fast and I felt overwhelmed a bit but as soon as I started hands-on work it all started to make sense.

In my team we have training sessions 3 times a month to help with progressing our knowledge. Additionally, the company offers support for the CA program by paying our fees, having paid study leave, and extra supporting material.

I think the onboard training could be more specific. For example, new employees should have a handbook that summarizes all internal resources, such as IT, Caseware, and Timesheet. Additionally, the graduate manual should be updated because it's still the 2018 version.
