Corporate Social Responsibility at Fonterra

Always looking to improve.

I don't know what Corporate Social Responsibility is.

As a cooperative the company's primary purpose is to return value to the farmer shareholder. Often sometimes this aligns with the general societal desires. Sometimes not, Fonterra works primarily on the policy of "do what's right, as long as in the long term it will benefit, or at least not be detrimental to the farmers". This includes weighing up the potential negative impacts of doing what society and customers deem as "bad" and working to avoid that.

Very good, I have worked on the Co-operative Difference and Nestle project which are both sustainability driven.

Change to biomass boilers from coal. Kickstart breakfast. Tree planting. Foodbank donations

Verry well managed.

There is lots of tracking and direction into this space, I have personally worked across the sustainability reporting space and know that there is heaps of work going on.

There are opportunities to volunteer, especially in the Grad Programme

Community engagement is massive in all aspects of Fonterra and i think it is done very well

I think it's generally in a good space, I try to make the office fun and enjoy it.

I do think they are focusing on sustainability as well as doing the kickstart breakfast - which gives kiwi kids breakfast across NZ.

The company is doing a lot to reduce carbon emissions and sustainably operate in the future. Just a quick google search takes you to many of the initiatives we are running

I think this is pretty good as we do have a growing sustainability initiative, but I am unsure on what else we do. The only other thing I can think of is that occasionally staff help out with Kickstart Breakfast, but sometimes it can be hard to regularly communicate with the charity to see when and where they need help.

Ecovadis, meetings, public announcements

We are active in the community and a range of employees contribute time to these causes.

Kickstart Breakfast that feeds thousands of kiwi kids. Local tree planting days, and presence at other local events.

They have partnerships. I volunteer with our communities team when I can but that's done by the team not the company
