The company has put lots of effort into helping us with the necessary character and personal development that will set us up well for the future. Have learnt lots around how to present ourselves in a professional setting. Lots of work has been done to become comfortable with presenting work and talking to large audiences. We have gained awareness on how to best handle certain social settings or uncomfortable situations in the work place. While also having the more formal on the job training to develop the required understanding about the business and certain procedures that are important when working in the food industry.

I am extremely satisfied with the informal training, but the formal training in terms of getting up to scratch with roles and responsibilities is pretty lackluster. Had a discussion with my first rotation manager about this, who was a trainer prior, and he mentioned that there was a big focus on training but that has disappeared in recent times. Informally, that is replaced but when I think of the company, I think of training similar to that of Optiver Academy where they have a comprehensive program that covers a huge range of aspects of the business and getting you up to scratch on the full breadth and depth of specific products and your role.

We did do PEP training recently in which I found some of the content useful, but could also be held at a less busy time of year and could have easily been condensed into 1-1.5 days.

Training has been excellent. The entire graduate program is a training program for both technical and soft skills. Informally, my managers have let me do things I thought would be helpful for development. This has been hassle-free too.

The graduate program does focus on a lot of trainings, such as personality tests, efficiency etc. I actual prefer the informal trainings that you almost get from osmosis just by being around certain people and picking up the way how they go about things.

There are many opportunities to learn. There are online e-learnings you can do, the company offers LinkedIn learning access as well which is great. There are also capability specific learnings. For example we have a marketing excellence site which has learnings on how to market for our company, as well as events and resources (toolkit, template, case studies etc.). The main thing is that through the job you can pick up so many informal skills. I have become very adept at using a few insight databases, excel, teams, and as my team works with a creative/design agency, I have learnt how to write briefs, manage that communication and how to coordinate others and provide clear feedback. It isn't always the hard skills but a lot of soft skills improving.
