How flexible is your company when it comes to hours?
Very flexible, expecting 40 hours a week, but generally flexible with start and finish times depending on the team

Very flexible and understanding. Obviously still want the job don and don well right but if there is a last minute issue they are happy to help.

We work standard hours. This provides enough time to complete everything we need to within the work week. The program has been reasonably flexible and allowed us to take back time when we have worked overtime.
Graduate, Palmerston North - 26 Aug 2024
Pretty standard expectation of 40h/week, but grad programme requirements often pushed this out to ~45h with some extra work at home. Some shift work was required during the grad programme, but not over 40h worth where possible.

Aside from when we did the learning portion of the role, hours are relatively flexible and most things can be worked out with your manager. During the learning portion there were many people scheduled to come in and teach us so we needed to be at work for those set times.

In the offices it is very flexible. I choose to work from 7:30/8:00 am to 4:00/5:00 pm. In the plants it is a lot more prescribed, however, the managers still have some flexibility, operators do not.

For this role the hours are very flexible expect over winter. During the winter there is minimal flexibility of working hours.

They are very flexible, I do my hours every day but I know if something came up I would be able to go without any stress.
Graduate, Christchurch - 22 Aug 2024
Placement and winter course have strict timelines and schedules, sometimes going over the standard 40 hours a week. Research project is more flexible

Hours flexible, normal working hours but strong emphasis on output. The more you put in the more you get out, which allows for good balance between effort and results.
Graduate, Auckland - 22 Aug 2024
Very flexible. As company wide policy this is only 2-days in the office a week, although on the graduate program we are encouraged to come in more. It really feels like a complete the work type of culture, and when it is done is less important.

2-3 days WFH is the standard flexible working arrangement, I've had no issues with negotiating slight changes to my hours
Graduate, Hamilton - 22 Aug 2024
This varies throughout the course of the program. During placements there was good flexibility and a good workload. However, during winter course it felt as though we were often staying longer outside of expected hours with very few opportunities to claim back time. This is a lot more flexible now during our research projects.

Farm source - Flexible to work from home - 45hours a week in office FRDC winter course workload very demanding - had to spend a lot of time working in weekends and after work to achieve the expected high standards - poor communication between lecturers around our workload and they had unrealistic expectations at times
Graduate, Christchurch - 22 Aug 2024
There would be different expectations based on the team however if you do your time and your tasks, no one asks questions of you.
Graduate, Auckland - 22 Aug 2024
Flexible currently, role dependent though
Graduate, Hamilton - 21 Aug 2024
I find that my hours in the office is a lot better than I was in my first rotation, where I sometimes would work till 7pm to ensure my markets were satisfied with the service. In these cases, my first manager would always mention taking off early in other days to balance the work hours over the week but having to work with international space does have its ups and downs in terms of work hours over the week.

Very flexible which is great
Graduate, Auckland - 08 Aug 2023
I work around 40 hours - sometimes more or less depending on the week. Mostly flexible to WFH if needed and I can do more hours one day and less another if I need to attend an appointment
Graduate, Auckland - 08 Aug 2023
Pretty flexible depending on your team's working style. I can often come in at whatever time but make sure I am working from a certain time in the morning and get my work done by end of day. Half-days are fine as long as you communicate with your manager.
