You probably know that we've been taking care of Kiwi farmers since the 1930s ... but did you also know that we're pretty big in the security industry too? With over 800 team members across New Zealand (and more than 1000 around the world with offices in Australia, the United States, Hong Kong, South Africa, the United Kingdom and more), our high-tech solutions can be found in over 160 countries.

Our world-leading security platforms look after students, office workers, nurses, doctors, patients, prison officers, bankers, miners and many, many more, all over the globe. Be it protecting the UK's national power infrastructure, casinos operating in Macau, the iron ore flowing in Western Australia, or providing instant lockdown at Harrisburg District School in the United States, our high tech access control and perimeter fencing takes care of people just about everywhere you can think of.

And in the agriculture industry, Gallagher delivers smarter, simpler solutions that make farm life easier and more profitable. From corporate farms to family farms, zoos and wildlife parks – our products help them all.

This opportunity, based within our Group Communications team, would be ideal for someone starting out in comms who is keen to get a heap of hands-on and meaningful experience.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Thrives on new opportunities and likes to get involved (it's less important to us whether you've done something before or not, what's more, important is your mindset and eagerness to give anything ago).
  • Wants to work in a large, complex, global company and absorb the learning and personal growth that comes with it.
  • Really enjoys writing (you don't need to be the next J.K. Rowling, just a desire to tell a compelling story and refine your approach).
  • Values attention to detail and quality, while balancing the need to get stuff done in a timely way.
  • Takes a creative approach in life.
  • Is hungry for feedback and eager to put it into action for future pieces of work.
  • Ideally comes with a qualification in communications, marketing, journalism, human resources, or something related. That said, we're open to any qualification if you're passionate about comms!
  • To help you get experience in a lot of different areas, this role offers a bit of everything: writing stories, compiling newsletters, publishing social media updates, creating content with our specialist video and design team, building simple intranet sites helping out at corporate events, and so on.

As a member of our Group Communications team with specialists spanning comms, video production and graphic design, and community giving, we can offer you a compelling package:

  • Caring family culture and strong values – 94 per cent of our people say they're proud to work for Gallagher.
  • Opportunities to work with other professionals in the likes of marketing, web development, product, manufacturing, supply chain and finance.
  • A competitive salary and bonus opportunities as well as a company laptop and mobile phone.
  • A modern office environment, free parking, subsidised on-site café and great eateries nearby.
  • Flexible working setup around both location and hours.
  • Access to our community giving programme, enabling you to do some volunteer work, ask Gallagher to make a donation to an organisation you're involved in or take part in a corporate challenge.
  • Discounts at some of New Zealand's favourite stores.
  • Plenty of fun along the way – team building events, a companywide end-of-year Christmas function, inspiring guest speakers, team lunches, and so on.

If this sounds like an opportunity you'd be interested in, but you'd really like a summer break first, we're happy to look at part-time hours over Christmas and New Year period, starting full-time in late January 2022. Equally though if you're keen to get straight into it, that's good for us too.

Don't delay, apply today! In your cover letter, please let us know why you're interested in this role, the top things you'd bring to Gallagher, and why you think you'd be a good fit. We'll be shortlisting and interviewing candidates as soon as applications are received. Look forward to hearing from you.
