This team has been together so long, they are more like a family. They work together to get the job done, but there is always some good banter and a few laughs. We have multiple opportunities for some new people to join our crew!

Working from Duke St as a Serviceperson within our City Delivery Team, you’ll be out with a crew working on the network of water, stormwater and wastewater assets. The team work from a list of jobs to maintain, fix and service the water network for the community with tasks like:

  • Fixing a water leak
  • Sorting out a blocked pipe
  • Attending an emergency flood
  • Maintaining a drain or pipes
  • Constructing a new connection for a new house or subdivision

We currently have multiple roles available in our crew, including:

  • Water Serviceperson
  • Pumpstation/Minor Maintenance
  • Hot Mix Truck (minor asphalting)

We are looking for people who are hands-on types, keen to learn, physically fit and ready to give something new a go!

To enjoy the job, you’ll need to have a positive attitude and like working in a team with others. At times, you’ll need to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in to some grubby situations, but we will teach you what to do! We are happy to show you the tools of the trade and give you the opportunity to work alongside the people who have been around a while. We will teach you about working safely, dealing with the tricky pieces of work and how to operate our machinery.

It’s a good feeling going home at the end of the day when you have fixed a variety of situations for people in our community. Each day you’re delivering a great service for the city and that’s important work!

The hours are full-time 40 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, starting 7:30am. There will be an expectation of you to be available for on-call duties outside ordinary hours when required, including weekends.

You will need to have a NZ Drivers license, ideally a full license, but we will consider a restricted license for the right candidate.  A Class 2 license would be an advantage.

We can offer you:

  •  Base hourly rate between $23.30 - $27.17 (depending on experience) + Kiwisaver + Allowances
  •  Flexible working options
  •  Environment that focuses on personal growth and development
  •  Relocation Package available
  •  Opportunity to purchase an extra week leave
  •  We provide a Community Day and Wellbeing Day each year
