Application Process & Interviews at Worley New Zealand

Was a fairly quick process and didn't have too many steps to it

Good process was a phone interview followed by a formal interview.

Online application followed by a phone interview and if possible, an in-person interview.

Application online, initial interview with HR person, second interview with discipline manager and graduate from same discipline, offer of role.

Straight forward three step process. Apply, short format interview, final interview with senior manager and graduate present

Process only consisted of an hour long interview. Very brief and relaxed.

If current employees know of anyone suited for the company, they are willing to interview them even if a role may not be advertised. I got my role through recommendation from another employee.

1 x phone interview with HR followed by 2 x skype interviews with process engineering team members and 1x face to face interview with engineers.

I was referred to the job by a friend already at the company, the interview was quickly organised and they were quick to get back to me.

Questions around technical experience and interest Situational based question such as tell us time when, or how would you deal with this situation

How do I manage my time? How do people describe me? If I had two supervisors asking for work at the same time how would I handle the situation? How do I feel about moving to New Plymouth? What made me want to study chemical engineering?

I wasn't. I was a summer student previously so I was asked if I would like to return to the company in a graduate role which I accepted. I got my summer student role from a scholarship out of school

Generic interview questions like how I like to work, what I like to do outside of work, how I work in a team but also technical questions such as what makes up a safety case, how does a geothermal plant work.

What is the most difficult thing you've had to do? No other questions stuck out at me.

Yes just be honest and don't try to be someone you're not in your interview.

Be yourself in the interview. Often times when it comes to graduates, companies are looking

for team fit as well as technical abilities. At the end of the day, you learn 70% of what you do on the job so you need to prove that you can learn and work well in the team.

Keep an open mind and come across as flexible when it comes to moving and what work you will be involved in.

Read up about the company, and be confident in your strengths and what you think you bring to the role. We look for well rounded. You just need to convey that you have a good work ethic and are prepared to learn and contribute to a team environment

Be approachable, the graduates screen the applications, the more approachable you are, the more likely you are to fit in and the more likely they are to recommend you. Technical skills are important too.

Know about what the company does. Show interest in the work involved. Apply critical thinking, don't just say what you think we want to hear. Comport yourself professionally. Don't be afraid to ask for time to think about a tricky question, there's no reason why you have to answer immediately.
